Common problems and solutions when laser cutting pipes

1. Low cutting accuracy

If the laser pipe cutting machine has a low cutting accuracy when cutting pipes, this may be due to the following reasons:

1) Incorrect adjustment of the laser beam. The focal length, position, angle and other parameters of the laser beam have a great influence on the cutting accuracy. If the setting is inaccurate, this will result in an uneven cutting surface and a uniform cutting deviation.

2) Uneven pipe surface. If there is oil, an oxide layer or unevenness on the pipe surface, this impairs the focusing effect of the laser beam and therefore the cutting accuracy.

The solution:

1) Adjust the laser beam precisely. Adjust the focus, position and angle of the laser beam according to the material and wall thickness of the pipe to ensure that the laser beam is directed perpendicular to the pipe surface to achieve the best cutting effect.

2) Pre-treat the pipe surface. Before cutting, the pipe surface should be cleaned to remove oil and oxide layers and ensure a smooth surface. If the pipe surface is uneven, pre-treatment such as grinding and polishing can be carried out to improve cutting accuracy.

2. Unstable cutting speed

When cutting pipes with a laser cutting machine, unstable cutting speed is a common problem. If the cutting speed is too fast, incomplete cuts can easily occur. If the cutting speed is too slow, time and energy are wasted. Analyse the cause:

1) Unstable laser power. The fluctuation of the laser power has a direct effect on the cutting speed. If the laser power is unstable, the cutting speed is also unstable.

2) The material of the tube is uneven. Tubes made of different materials have different absorption capacity for the laser. If the material of the tube is uneven, the cutting speed is unstable.

The solution:

1) Check the laser generator. Check and maintain the laser generator regularly to ensure stable output power. If the laser power is unstable, contact a professional for repair in time.

2) Choose the right tube. When selecting the tube, try to choose a tube with uniform material and stable quality to reduce the instability of cutting speed.

3. Poor quality of the cutting surface

After the laser cutting machine cuts the tube, the quality of the cutting surface is also an important indicator of the cutting effect. If there are burrs, cracks and other problems on the cutting surface, it will not only affect the beauty of the pipe, but also affect its performance. Root cause analysis:

1) Incorrect setting of cutting parameters. Cutting parameters include laser power, cutting speed, auxiliary gas pressure, etc. The setting of these parameters has a great influence on the quality of the cut surface. If the parameters are not set correctly, the quality of the cut surface will be poor.

2) Excessive internal stresses in the pipe. During the production process, internal stresses can occur in the tube, which are released during cutting and cause cracks on the cut surface.

The solution:

1) Optimize the cutting parameters. According to the material, thickness, cutting requirements, etc. of the pipe, adjust the laser power, cutting speed, auxiliary gas pressure and other parameters appropriately to achieve the best quality of the cutting surface.

2) Anneal the pipe. Annealing the pipe before cutting can effectively reduce the internal stress and improve the quality of the cutting surface.
